What We Do: Financial Support
Rodeo is a tough sport, and injuries are an unfortunate part of the job for athletes in any discipline. But Western Sports Foundation (WSF) believes an injury doesn’t have to be the end of the ride. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that no athlete faces financial hardship while they work to get back on their feet.

Financial Support
Tough injuries don’t have to stop a tough athlete, and WSF is there for every Western athlete through every step of their journey. Through the support of generous donors and partners, WSF offers financial assistance to professional rodeo athletes who are injured in competition.
When a rodeo athlete is injured, they’re often unable to continue competing. Since most professional cowboys and cowgirls rely on their sport to earn a living, this can detrimental not only to the athlete but to their families. Even if an athlete has insurance to alleviate the cost of medical bills, they still must find a way to pay their basic living expenses while they’re recovering.

Financial support provided by WSF may be used to help with medical expenses or to cover basic needs, like groceries, vehicle payments, or mortgage payments, to take care of an athlete’s family during the recovery process.
WSF’s mission is to ensure that injured athletes can focus on what matters—getting better—without the added stress of financial worry. By protecting athletes while they recover, we help insure they can return to the sport with peace of mind after healing.
