Growing with WSF: Madalyn Richards
It takes a village to guide and support a young Western sports athlete from junior high and high school rodeo into the ranks of collegiate and pro levels of the sport. Breakaway roper Madalyn Richards learned that early in her career, while beginning her studies at Texas A&M University.
“As a college student at Texas A&M and a rodeo athlete finishing up my rookie year in the WPRA, I am at a pivotal stage of life,” Richards revealed. “The learning opportunities within WSF have been incredibly eye-opening.”
Not only was Richards able to gain invaluable lessons from WSF’s team of providers, she also made connections within the industry that have guided her on the path to a career.
“WSF also introduced me to some outstanding people that help me as I continue to navigate my professional and rodeo career,” she shared.
Now, Madalyn serves on WSF’s Athlete Advisory Committee, helping others like herself receive support. She’s an incredible example of why WSF believes the services offered through the generous support of donors can help Western sports athletes at any age, from junior high to high school and on to collegiate and pro rodeo careers.
“Western Sports Foundation is an organization unlike any other,” Richards concluded. “Because of the Foundation’s unique services and commitment to changing the lives of rodeo athletes, WSF has made a huge impact on my rodeo career.”
